Ike vs. Chuck

Who would win in a game of chess between Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin?

Newton is often regarded as one of the smartest men to have ever lived. Many of my readers are likely to be aware he described the laws of motion and gravity in his early twenties. As one of the co-creators of calculus, surely his mathematical wit could quickly put Darwin into checkmate.

On the other hand Darwin discovered natural selection, which today seems so self-evident that it's hard to envision a world where people were unaware of such an obvious scientific fact. Perhaps Darwin could draw Newton into a long slow match, wearing him down, and trick him into a false sense of security. Then at the last moment Darwin would take Newton in a trap of such transparency most amateurs would see it coming a mile away.

The poll is open.

Reviewing the last poll: What is the Nationality of Santa Claus?

Canadian 9 (52%)
Dutch 1 (5%)
Norwegian 2 (11%)
Turkish 1 (5%)
Other 4 (23%)

The Results of the Santa Claus Poll Pole are in. It appears as though you overwhelmingly believe St. Nick to be a Canadian. Geographically that's fair (as the North Pole resides in Canada, as does his mailing address). But I did like what Mr. Zimmerman said, ie "Santa is a citizen of all the nations of the world, for he is a friend of all the world's children." I kinda have that trans-nationalist feeling on this subject myself.
